Mental health care should be available when and where people need it. Susan has made expanding services a top priority.
- Led the County’s public health crisis declaration, prioritizing mental health and substance use disorder treatment.
- Funded non-law enforcement crisis teams, bringing immediate care to individuals in crisis.
- Added nearly 200 new treatment beds at all levels of acuity to ensure people receive care at the appropriate level of acuity and can move through the system as they recover.
Next, Susan will:
- Eliminate waitlists for mental health and substance use disorder care and ensure same-day access to services.
-
Expand mental health resources for youth, especially in schools.
- Invest in community-based treatment so people access care where they are.
